Alex Payne is currently a third year Film and Media studies major at UCSB.  He was born and raised in Antioch, a small town in the Bay Area.  While in Antioch he partook in many different sports, along with classes about film and music.  Those courses were both theory and hands on based.  Taking these classes helped to shape his decision in pursuing Film at UCSB. 

 

Payne is currently employed as a lab assistant at the DEL, and an intern for Gauchos Media team.  What this entails is helping students with film projects for their classes and filming various sporting events that take place on the UCSB campus.  Once he graduates he plans to pursue his goal of working in the film industry by moving to L.A.. 

Payne's influences include J.F.K., Jordan Belfort, Tyler Durdan, Michael Jordan, Will Smith, and Martin Scorsese.  His favorite writers are Stephen King, Lord Byron, and Eckhart Tolle.  His interests include reading, writing, exercise, and art.
